Playing around with my visual journalism sketchbook pages, the way I draw in that class is so different so it's interesting to try and work into them, although proving difficult (especially with the second one. I tried applying my normal way of working to the sketch and it's kind of a strange combination. going back and forth with how I feel about it)

Promo Piece (works in progress)
Decided to do an entirely new piece for my promo postcards

The back will most likely look something like this

Buried Alive WIP
I realized I have been posting a lot of concept art/character design work lately and I wanted to put up a work in progress of an illustration I am also working on
It is for a reader's digest story about someone being buried alive
It's been a few months since I've full on digitally painted something so this should be interesting!

Dragon-WIP
I am newly dubbing this a work in progress because I really do want to go back into it. unfortunately the file is still... well corrupted so it looks like I'll have to paint back into this one without my layers. But I really want to finish it to the extent that I really wanted it done

Environment Concept
For my concept art class we had to redesign one of our favorite stories
I chose to redesign the original written version of Beauty and the Beast
I changed the race of character into an elven race
Due to Belle's father losing his riches they are forced to move into the forest and live there. Events that would follow remain true to the original story just in a different setting/for slightly different reasons (nothing major)
we had to redesign one character and one environment so here is the environment (I will post character stuff later, as well as the original concepts and sketches that go with this piece)

Illusionism, take two!
The finished (for now) version of the below post! (curse you blogger and your fading of colors)
(of course looking at it I see a few things that need a little tweaking but, hey, I have other things to do too!)

WIP- new illustration
I am using a nice excerpt from my friend Isabel Low's lovely short story for this illustration
This is... really not remotely close to finished but I figured I'd share this for fun (Works in Progress are so fun)

First full assignment for my Drawing: Illusionism class
When I have more time I will probably try and do more to the background but this is where it stands for now

Don't Ask Don't Tell
Op-Ed piece done in Illustration 1 class earlier this semester
The assignment was that Time Magazine called and tells you they need a piece by the end of the day
Basically we had to choose between the Chilean Miners article or the Don't Ask Don't Tell article and plan/finish our piece in the 5 hours of class time
Mine is Don't Ask Don't Tell based on a quote from the article that went something along the lines of recruiters hands would no longer be tied by sexuality allowing them to pick the best and brightest recruits regardless of sexual preference
Apologies for the somewhat poor quality... the paper really isn't that dark in the corners
Original is 11"x14" done entirely in Pencil
Animated Series
We had to pitch an animated series for Illustration One
This film would be called Dark Shadow
It follows the story of Romy and Cyrene
The merfolk and humans co-habitate underwater, the merfolk living in the ocean and the humans living in a lush environment encased in glass built into the sea rock
One day a dark shadow cases over the whole ocean and suddenly merfolk start to go missing
They immediately blame the humans but when they show up at the humans environment, they realize that they are having the same problem
Cyrene shows Romy an ancient book they discovered that speaks of a similar occurrence about 1000 years prior
Using said book, the two (with the help of other side characters) discover what has been going on...
You get to find out what has been happening in a later post, because I do not currently have the artwork for it :]
