Character Lineup

For the rest of the semester in Advanced Character design we were assigned (2 or 3 weeks ago) to do a story of our choosing.  We could write our own or use an existing story that we like.  I am using a combination of the original Beauty and the Beast story and the Disney version to come up with a darker story starting with the Beast's death.
I will be posting a synopsis once I have a coherently written version!
Here is the first batch of characters after a few weeks of sketching and critiquing

Pan's Labyrinth Environment WIP: Round Two

Two different view of the Labyrinth (overhead and entrance)
Really large version of brain coral, which has a natural maze pattern to it. Super cool.

Pan's Labyrinth Environment WIP

Started working on a real version of the previously posted thumbnails
Will have a finished (well presentable) piece up by the end of the week and thumbnails for another environment!

This is Faye.

Those are some expression studies

Assignment for "getting to know a character"
I plan on fixing up the turn around a bit and hopefully finding time to add some color to her
Also want to keep exploring her face when I have free time (what is that?) so as to keep working on character consistency

Environment Master Copy- James Aaron Finch

Beautiful Princess and the Frog concept art by James Aaron Finch
Hilarious "blind" copy done after studying the image for about 10 seconds and then not being allowed to reference it
Copy while actually getting to reference the image (well as far as I got in an hour. Cursed foliage)

Doing things like this definitely helps the learning process I think (this was an in class assignment so I would hope it was a good learning process! hah.)
